Lion Learning Pathways

History

An invaluable resource providing all your teaching and learning content requirements – split by key stage – to support Years 1 to 6.

As a study of the past and the past's legacies in the present, History is inescapable.

At Lion, our sequential approach to the curriculum really lends itself to teaching History chronologically, so that, from Years 1 to 6, children have a clear framework for organising their understanding of the past.

Along the way, our aim at every stage is to go above and beyond the basic learning expectations. We want to inspire children to think like historians, to work with evidence, argue for their own conclusions, and learn to distinguish between historical facts and the way people interpret them. Above all, pupils get to understand more about themselves as individuals and as members of society.

Curriculum maps bring the learning journey to life

What am I learning? How does it relate to what I learnt last year and to what I'm going to learn next year? Our learning pathways graphically set out the whole subject curriculum and bring the learning journey to life for every learner, in each year.

Assessment sheets for every lesson

For every lesson in every subject, the Lion Pathways Curriculum provides end-of-topic or end-of-module assessment sheets to print off and capture both pupil and teacher feedback for that piece of work. By actively tracking each learner’s views in a consistent and systematic way, it ensures their voice is heard and recorded, a core part of every element of the teaching and learning cycle.
