Reading is essential to every subject we teach and is always about inspiring children to develop a love of it. It starts with word reading, phonics and early language acquisition when children are just starting to develop their reading ability. More complex comprehension skills are then developed through the key stages. As always, our key focus on assessment proficiency enables children to discuss, debate and engage with texts in a range of meaningful ways.

To access the thousands of digitised lessons we use to support the Lion Pathways Curriculum, you will need to sign up to Miro. This content-sharing platform lets teachers make, edit, share and distribute lessons to pupils, saving time and ensuring every student has a quality learning experience.
What am I learning? How does it relate to what I learnt last year and to what I'm going to learn next year? Our learning pathways graphically set out the whole subject curriculum and bring the learning journey to life for every learner, in each year.
For every lesson in every subject, the Lion Pathways Curriculum provides end-of-topic or end-of-module assessment sheets to print off and capture both pupil and teacher feedback for that piece of work. By actively tracking each learner’s views in a consistent and systematic way, it ensures their voice is heard and recorded, a core part of every element of the teaching and learning cycle.
